Prior to the launch of Classroom Xperience 2015 (CXP), 35 committed members of this student’s club began engaging a targeted group of underprivileged children from Rumah Ozanam between the ages of 7-14 years old. These bunch of high-spirited youths started organising fun-filled educational and outdoor activities for this group of 21 children as they believed that learning takes place beyond the classroom environment. This dedicated group of students has sacrificed their time and energy to spend their weekends with these children as this is an ongoing commitment that these students have pledged to.

The passion they have in contributing back to the community is an exemplary nature that everyone should possess. Students from various programmes ranging from A Levels, South Australian Matriculation (SAM)/SACE International, Canadian Pre-University (CPU) and International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) have come together to fulfil their dreams in helping and supporting the community around them. This gives the students a sense of responsibility and conviction for their humanitarian actions.

On 20th January 2015, the launch of CXP, held at the courtyard of Taylor’s College Subang Jaya (TCSJ) campus gathered a lot of attention and interest from other students as it was seen during the Recruitment Drive held a few days later where students were seen swamping the CXP booth to register as volunteers. There will also be a fundraising campaign on 19th April 2015 at TCSJ campus to support the ongoing activities where these children are provided books, stationaries, camps, workshops and many more. Since it’s a weekly affair, funds are required to help this group of children.

The hallmark event for CXP will take place in August where these underprivileged children will graduate from this CXP project. There will also be a ‘classroom experience’ for these underprivileged children in a different environment and setting. This one-day event will see lecturers and volunteers from Taylor’s College conducting classroom lessons for this group of excited children who are eager to learn.
