In relation to said aim and objectives of ECO Campaign, several activities/ events were planned and executed in TULC for the whole month of June as follows:
ECO Campaign Launch Day (2 June 2015)
ECO Campaign was launched by Taylor’s University’s very own President and Vice Chancellor, Professor Dato’ Dr. Hassan Said, where he officiated the launch through a musical stairs, a creation of School of Engineering students headed by Farah Danial.
Prior to energy conservation, the two daily used lifts in Block C were reprogrammed such that one lift reprogrammed to only stop at even numbered floors while the other reprogrammed to stop at odd numbered floors. The objectives of this lift reprogramming were to reduce the lifts waiting time by half and to promote healthy lifestyle via enhancing staircase climbing. Following the launch of lift, a friendly staircase climbing activity was carried out whereby participants progressed from one floor to another, at the same time obtaining some sort of small gifts/ worthy vouchers in the process (from each floor).
ECO Poster Designing Competition (8 June 2015)
Themed ‘ECO On The Go’, this competition was held to enhance a full participation of all schools in a minor ECO activity, proving the reach of ECO Campaign to all schools in Taylors and to instill Energy Conservation mindset in student.
ECO Public Speaking Competition (12 June 2015)
The ECO Public Speaking Competition was organized to encourage the development of oral communication skills among students as public speaking is an essential part of most jobs and at some point, all of us will have to give a speech in public to inform, to persuade or to inspire others, to open up Taylor’s community mind-set on the importance of Energy Conservation. The competition theme revolves around – optimum energy usage and famous energy conservation creations.
ECO Ideas Proposal Competition (21 May – 19 June 2015)
The objective of the competition was to enhance creative mindset among students in creating ECO friendly/ useful models that could conserve energy/ save the environment.
ECO Night (19 June 2015)
Besides the exclusive presentations by the ECO Ideas Proposal Competition’s finalists, ECO Night was made perfect with amazing performances by Rayyan & Illie, They Forgot Jasmine Band and jaw dropping dance by ACE Crew members.
ECO Campaign Closing Ceremony (25 June 2015)
Lastly, ECO Closing Ceremony was graced by Dr. Vickneswaran Nair
(Associate Professor of Suitainable Tourism Management) whom graciously gave off prizes and certificates of participation to ECO Campaign participants as well as certificates of appreciation to all ECO Campaign committee who made the entire campaign possible.
